Photoshop: Create 3d dripping effect in paint

In this tutorial I have explained how to create dripping effect using paint as an example. you can use any liquid like paint, blood, water etc using Dodge and Burn Tools etc.

Create dripping effect in any liquid like paint blood water etc using tools like Dodge and Burn Tools.

The dripping effect is one of the most useful special effects Adobe Photoshop has to offer. In this tutorial we will use Pen Tool, Dodge Tools, Burn Tools, Plastic Wrap and ZigZag options to get that effect.

1. Open a Color Can image as shown below.


2. Now with Pentool (P) draw the drip on the color can.


3. Fill with color, here i use #AAA8A9.


4. Now comes the tricky part, the best way to begin is to shade the drips by using Dodge and Burn Tools.So that it looks vaguely three diamentonal.


5. Now select Filter > Artistic > Plastic Wrap (Highlight Strength =10, Detail = 11 and Smothness = 15)

6. Apply Brightness and Contrast for more glistening and shiny.(Here iuse Brightness = +18 and Contrast = -2).



7. Now i drew an elliptical selection and add ZigZag filter(Filter > Distort > ZigZag) with following setting:(Amout = 10, Rigdges = 5 and Style = Pond ripples):
